Robbinsville, NJ – Dhruv Chopra, a young table tennis legacy, was honored with a resolution by the Robbinsville Township Council at their Thursday Night meeting for his skill with the paddle.

“When I think of table tennis, I immediately think of the Chopra family,” said Councilman Dan Schuberth.

For the past few years, Robbinsville has been home to a family of nationally ranked table tennis stars, including nine-year-old Dhruv who recently earned the title of runner up in the US National Championship.

Raised and trained by his mother Vandita, who is also a ranked player, Dhruv has been playing since 2016. He is an avid member of the Princeton table tennis club, Princeton Pong, alongside his mother where they both hone their skills.

In July, Dhruv earned his way to the top of the Under 10 Boys’ Singles as the runner up in the US National Championship. Adding to the intensity, on his way to the national finals, the young star defeated the player who had previously beaten him at the New Jersey State Tournament. This time, however, he would earn a cathartic victory against his rival.

During the council meeting, Dhruv was recognized by the Robbinsville council for his many great achievements, including becoming the third highest ranked player in the United States.

“Between Vandita and now her son Dhruv, incredible, incredible accomplishments in the US table tennis tournaments,” Schuberth said.
